I’m a part of Flag Star because the this company aligns with my core values and I love the energy of the kids. Coaching brings me more joy than anything that I have done in years!

What’s the most important value to share with/teach the kids:

Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Confidence and playing loose will allow you to perform at the highest level.

Favorite intro/pump-up song:

Eye of the Tiger

Favorite Sports Movie:

The Program

Who was your childhood sports hero:

Mike Alstott

Who was your favorite youth coach and what did he/she teach you:

Coach Anderson taught me how to lead. I am a reserved person and I always thought that you have to be loud and the center of attention to lead people. He taught me that if I could lead by example and put my teammates in positions where they could shine. "Leadership is not about you son. What does your team need?"

Who’s the best friend you made through sports:

Dean Revels. He taught me how to compete. He really showed me how to play smart but aggressively.

What’s your most cringe-worthy sports moment / biggest failure:

When I started playing football in Middle School, I wanted to play Running Back and only Running Back. During Spring and Summer practice, I had a full on competition with someone that was more talented than I was at the position. He won the position and the coach moved me to Fullback. I pouted. I cried. I wanted to quit. Then, my older brother showed me a highlight tape of Mike Alstott "The A train" and told me that it does not matter what position you play, the only thing that matters is if you find a way to help your team. I went on to become the team captain, All-City, All-State (Honorable mention), and I played DI ball at MS State University.

What are your off-field interests/hobbies:

Reading, chess, mentorship, and exercise.

What’s your favorite quote:

Sorry, I have a few.

Your actions are speaking so loudly that I can't hear what you're saying.

When things don't go your way, watch the tape objectively.

You can't be a better coach, manager, or leader than you are a person.

Anything else people need to hear??

I love the game and I am passionate about teaching life skills through football.
