Carl Ehrlich

CEO, Executive Director

What's up, team? My name is Carl Ehrlich and I'm the "Head Coach" at Flag Star.

Originally from Bethesda, MD (Whitman Vikings what up?!), I didn't grow up in a football family. My first football experience was tackle (I started in 9th grade) and I went on to play Defensive Line at Harvard. I was the 136th Captain of Harvard Football and, slunking away from some NFL Rookie Camp invites, played a year of "professional" football in Valencia, Spain. I started Flag Star Football in 2014 with the idea of ... well you can read about our ideas and mission Vivid Vision — Flag Star Football.

Finishing my bio ... I have a beautiful wife, Tatum (she's the real athlete in the family) and two kids -- Georgia and Bode -- who make me smile just typing their names. We have also have a rottweiler, Beef, who's on a lot of Flag Star apparel but has been banned from the fields for bad behavior.

When I'm not living in the Flag Star matrix, I'm spending time with the family (usually outside, playing), hiking, working out, talking to my dog, listening to audible books or some combination of the bunch.

I had a lot of coaches who I love dearly and still consider family. A lot of them were also screamers.

I started Flag Star Football drawn by the blank slate that Flag Football presented. It was a new game with a fresh opportunity to build a culture and community of love, progress and connectivity.

I really believe sports are a vehicle for teaching values and preparing people for life. My motivation is to make that life — for our kids, our parents and our staff — one marked by Getting Better and Having Fun.
