My name is Jack Appel and I am, people say, the best Appel brother at Flag Star. My older brother, Sam, is our Elite Director, my twin brother, Mick, coaches here and my younger brother, Finn, is a Flag Star player-turned-counselor.

I grew up in Arlington, VA (Go W&L!!), I’m a die-hard Commanders fan and – even though I didn’t play college football like my brothers (good for them…) – football has been a main-stay and a guiding-force in my life.

I love really do love Flag Star and it’s been incredible to see it grow. Since I started here (refereeing back in 2018 while in college), I’ve had a big hand in helping new initiatives grow. I started our Potomac League (where I still coach and run Summer Camps) and helped lay the groundwork for our awesome Girls Elite program.

When I am not coaching, you can catch me consuming an ungodly amount of sports and hopefully on a beach in the offseason!
