Employment at Flag Star is a two-way street. We interview, train and manage our coaches, referees and field staff in the hopes of providing the best possible youth sports experience. But when the games are done, we want to give something back to our high school, college and grad school age staff. We want to pull back the curtain, and show them the operations and inner-workings, and introduce them to leaders in the sports business field. AND - we want to reach out into our community, beyond the amazing young people we already know, to find and inspire new sports leaders.

Fall 2025 Operations Internship. Each season, Flag Star selects 2 to 3 college or graduate students to work regularly both on the field and behind the scenes at our headquarters, in a paid internship. This is a hands-on internship, which includes coaching, logistics, communications, and one-on-one time with the Founder/CEO, and the directors of various Flag Star programs. These positions are paid and can fulfill requirements of college credit internships. They require access to a car, and include regular hours in the office and on the field at our leagues around the DMV. Previous experience inside the Flag Star ecosystem as a player, coach or referee is a plus - but not a requirement.

Winter/Spring Business Internship. Working with a wide-range of young leaders (ages 15 - 24), Flag Star runs a Winter/Spring internship program to both invest back in our younger staff and meet new and amazing young people with bright futures. We give a few dozen young people exposure to our multi-faceted organization, and a chance to meet leaders behind large business organizations (including professional sports teams) through a robust speaker series.

We have run a this program annually since 2016, with an increasingly large group size. We have graduated hundreds of young leaders who’ve gone on to great things. And, as a direct result of the generosity and engagement of Monumental Sports and Entertainment, this internship has been a paid opportunity since 2024, while also bringing interns face-to face with top executives behind the scenes of Washington DC’s own Capitals, Wizards and Mystics. Monumental Sports has also generously offered conference space at Capital One Arena in downtown DC, where all intern meetings now take place.
